The Ruddster

So our 'populist' PM is at it again this week. Kevin 07, K-Rudd...etc...His latest alter-ego is the 'Ruddster', which is apparently the manifestation of Rudd when he's at the footy. The problem is that Kev gave himself the nickname...on Channel 7 he stated that (refering to Chris Judd), 'he's the juddster and i'm the ruddster'. So i pose the question whether its legitimate to give yourself a nickname?

Nike Tennis

Image - New York Times 26/8/09

So i don't mind the odd game of tennis, and i've been catching the US Open action this week. But the thing that caught my eye was Nike's pre-tournament play. In New York they blocked off Broadway between 22nd and 23rd Streets and constructed a pop-up tennis court where Federer, Nadal and Williams — "showed off their new U.S. Open ensembles and hit some balls with a few lucky kids from four different inner-city programs." Which made me think, how versatile is that? Why not just set up a court anywhere you wanted, at the beach, on the freeway, in the shopping centre, in your office; then again you may have to be Nike. And then again you may need to find a bunch of 'inner city' kids and then 'adopt' them into your corporate family!

Intergalactic Poverty

My mate made this video - very clever...i remembered it when the news of cadbury's decision to go 'fair trade' was publicised this week; this move will significantly improve the working conditions of 40,000 Ghanaian cocoa farmers! Let's believe this is just the beginning.

Finals time

Got my tickets to the cats v dogs game this morning; its going to be a great finals series, its wide open for anyone - all the talk is about the dogs and the pies, but i reckon the saints and the cats are ready to fire, cool thing is that the cats now seem to be going in as underdogs, pardon the pun, so i think that suits us for a run at the cup, i can hardly wait, carn the cats...

Man Vs. Wild

i often wonder how i'd go in a 'castaway' type adventure. Bear Grylls does it for real on the Discovery Channel; dropped into remote locations he must survive on his wits and his skills. He fights rattlesnakes, climbs glacier's and builds rafts...actually i reckon i'd be dead in about half an hour...Bear has said that in the quiet, "it's my christian faith that keeps me going...its kinda like my backbone i guess"...inspired stuff.

just think

So much talk right now about violence in the CBD and other areas, most of it attributed to alcohol. I think this campaign being led by AFL captains is great; we should not be held to ransom by these thugs in our great city. Getting drunk and being out of control is never an excuse for your actions, just think.

His love never fails

Nothing can separate
Even if I ran away
Your love never fails

I know I still make mistakes
But You have new mercies for me everyday
Your love never fails

You stay the same through the ages
Your love never changes
There maybe pain in the night but joy comes in the morning
And when the oceans rage
I don't have to be afraid
Because I know that You love me
Your love never fails

The wind is strong and the water's deep
But I'm not alone in these open seas
Cause Your love never fails

The chasm is far too wide
I never thought I'd reach the other side
But Your love never fails

You make all things work together for my good
